Canadian mining company discovers copper, gold and silver in Tete, Mozambique

8 October 2010

Vancouver, Canada, 8 Oct – Canadian company African Queen Mines said in Vancouver that initial prospecting drilling carried out at the Rei Salomão project, in Mozambique’s Tete province, had discovered a significant amount of copper, gold and silver.

The results of the drilling, the first carried out in the region, are consistent with the results of previous surface prospecting and make it possible to confirm the existence of important mineral deposits in the ground.

African Queen Mines, which is involved in this project in partnership with Swiss company Opti Metal Trading Ltd, has concessions for exploration of mining products, such as gold, in Mozambique, Kenya and Ghana and for diamonds in Botswana and Namibia.

In the latter two countries, the company has concessions of an area of 9,200 square kilometres, in Mozambique the concession is 230 square kilometres and in Kenya it has 112 square kilometres for exploration of gold and other minerals. (macauhub)
