Lubango, Angola, 8 Oct – The provincial government of Huila in Angola has spent US$35,000 buying two machines for cutting granite for production of paving, the provincial director for Industry, Geology and Mines said Thursday in Lubango.
Paula Joaquim told Angolan news agency Angop that the two machines would be sent to cooperatives that would initially be created in Tchiquatiti, in Chibia municipality, where the largest number of quarries are located.
The purchase of the machines was a result of Huíla province’s participation in the international granite fair, held in Verona (Italy), at which new technologies and machines were presented.
Thirteen companies working in Huíla province quarry over 500,00 cubic metres of granite every year. (macauhub)
