Bissau, Guinea-Bissau, 29 Oct – The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) will support efforts by Guinea-Bissau’s civil society to achieve the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), under the terms of an agreement to be signed today in Bissau.
The agreement with Guinea-Bissau’s Foreign Ministry will be valid for three years and envisages US$600,000 of financial support to enhance the ability of civil society organisations to accomplish development plans based on the MDGs.
This support programme also aims to strengthen partnerships between the government and such organisations.
Guinea-Bissau is among countries that have made progress towards fulfilling the MDGs, though it must further promote economic growth to meet the desired targets. (macauhub)
