Agreements between Portugal and China involve total of US$1 billion

Beijing, China, 9 Nov – Agreements and business contracts signed Sunday in Lisbon, during the official visit to Portugal by the president of the People’s Republic of China, Hu Jintao, have a total value of US$1 billion, according to Chinese newspaper China Daily.

“Hu Jintao and Prime Minister José Sócrates presided over the signing of agreements and contracts for infrastructure projects, renewable energy and tourism worth US$1 billion,” the daily newspaper said.

The agreements signed involved some of the main companies from both countries, including Portugal Telecom, EDP – Energias de Portugal, Millenium bcp bank, Huawei Technologies and the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China.

The Chinese press noted that trade between China and Portugal rose 40.7 percent in the first nine months of 2010 to US$2.396 million. (macauhub)
