Banco Espírito Santo open to Chinese banks buying shares in the group

Macau, China, 15 Nov – Luanda, Angola, 4 Dec – The chief executive of Portuguese bank, Banco Espírito Santo (BES) Brasil, said in Macau that the bank would be “very happy” if banks from China wanted to buy shares in the Banco Espírito Santo group.

“Banco Espírito Santo (BES) has always had foreign shareholders and they are welcome to invest in BES,” noted the chairman of the board of BES Angola and chief executive of BES Brasil, Ricardo Espírito Santo.

“If there are Chinese banks that want to buy shares in BES we will be very happy with that investment, which would show a focus and confidence in the bank’s management,” he said on the sidelines of the Businesspeople and Financial Staff Conference as part of the 3rd Ministerial Conference of Forum Macau.
