Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, 16 Nov – Ethiopian Airlines is due to launch a direct flight from Addis Ababa to the Mozambican capital, Maputo on 1 December, according to Ethiopian news website nazret.com.
On the same date the airline will also launch a flight to Bengui, in the Central African Republic, and to Malakal, in the Sudan, with four weekly flights, and Maputo will have three flights per week.
The new routes increase Ethiopian Airlines total international destinations to 60, 40 of which are in Africa, according to the website.
Maputo airport, which opened a new international passenger terminal Friday, has links to Lisbon, Portugal, via TAP – Air Portugal and to Nairobi, Kenya, Dar-es-Salaam, Tanzania, Johannesburg and Cape Town, South Africa and Luanda, Angola.
During a recent visit by Chinese businesspeople to Mozambique an announcement was made that a Maputo-Shanghai air route was being considered. (macauhub)
