Luanda, Angola, 23 Nov – The Angolan government plans to draw up a programme to consolidate the national banking system, ensuring« financial stability and international credibility of Angola’s banks, according to an official statement.
In a statement the government, at a council of ministers meeting, said that as part of the programme a fund would be set up to train national banks in order to boost their technical capacities.
The plan includes modernisation of the technological infrastructure of the banks and making their equity appropriate to new demands, which will be set out in new laws.
The programme will pay special attention to consolidation of organisation, financial capacity and efficiency of national banks, regional banks and those focused on micro-financing, which are majority-owned by Angolan investors. (macauhub)
