Macau, China, 1 Dec – Construction of the Traditional Chinese Medicine Scientific and Industrial Park on Hengqin island, a partnership of Macau with Guangdong province, is due to begin in the first quarter of 2011, a government spokesman said Tuesday in Macau.
Alexis Tam said that the administrative regulation that would make way for the government’s partnership with Guangdong province was due to be submitted to the Executive Council at the end of 2010 or beginning of 2011, and would then be published, thus allowing work to begin.
In July Macau set up the Preparatory Office for the Chinese Traditional Medicine Scientific and Industrial Park, one of the projects its plans to launch on Hengqin island.
With the park, which is due to start operating within three years, the Macau government and the Guangdong authorities aim to produce traditional medicines with international certification, which will provided by certifying body also set up in Macau with specialists from all over the world to deal with all the technical formalities.
The Chinese Traditional Medicine Scientific and Industrial Park is part of wider cooperation with Guangdong province, the aims of which are set out in the Cooperation Framework Agreement, which is due to be ratified in March, 2011. (macauhub)
