3 December 2010

Luanda, Angola, 3 Dec – Angola’s Finance Minister, Carlos Alberto Lopes, said in Luanda that the government planned to implement measures to make public banks more “robust” and competitive.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony for the new headquarters of Banco Sol, the minister noted that such targets could only be achieved with a rise in efficiency, changes of attitude in management and organisation, adopting new and modern styles of leadership, with training and improved technical and professional skills of human resources.

Carlos Alberto said that public finances, as part of the Angolan financial system were undergoing a phase of restructuring and modernisation, noting activities underway to establish a better relationship between the Finance Ministry and the National Bank of Angola and improve information and data flow routines between the two.

The new headquarters of Banco Sol is a 14-storey building, eight of which will be rented out. The building, which was funded by the bank itself, took 24 months to build. (macauhub)
