17 December 2010

Sao Tome, Sao Tome and Principe, 17 Dec – The proposals from the six companies competing for seven oil blocks up for auction in the Sao Tome and Principe exclusive economic zone (EEZ), are due to be opened Friday, according to the chief executive of the Sao Tome National Oil Agency (ANP).

Luís Prazeres, the chief executive of the ANP, said Thursday that since March, the month in which the tender was launched simultaneously in London and in Sao Tome, until 15 November the six proposals had been received, the contents of which would only be known on Friday.

The ceremony is scheduled for 11 o’clock local time and will take place at the Ministry of Natural Resources, in the presence of the representatives of the companies, who are already in Sao Tome.

“We will then know which blocks each of the companies is competing for,” said Prazeres.

A little over a month ago, the ANP mentioned the names of Afex Global (South Africa), Force Petroleum, Grupo Gema (Angola), O.E. Engineering (Thailand), Oranto Petroleum (United Kingdom) and Overt Energy (Nigeria) as the companies that were competing for the seven oil blocks auctioned off by the Sao Tome government.
