Egyptian company to manufacture electricity and water meters in Mozambique

Maputo, Mozambique, 27 Dec – Egyptian company Elsewedy Electric in the next four months is due to start manufacturing in Mozambique meters for electricity and water, according to Mozambican newspaper Notícias.

The factory is under construction in Matola-Rio, Maputo province, and the investment is estimated at US$15 million said Mohamed El-Naggar, regional director and project manager for Elsewedy Electric in Maputo.

Counting on a guaranteed market of Mozambique’s electricity (Electricidade de Moçambique) and water (Águas de Moçambique) companies, as there us no local production of meters, El-Naggar also said that the company projected production of of 12,000 electricity meters and 2,000 water meters per month.

The factory will manufacture two types of electricity meter, which will be sold to EdM and Elsewedy Electric expects that they will be used in rural electricity projects under the terms of an understanding reached by the governments of the two countries. (macauhub)
