Macau, China, 31 Dec – The Macau balance of trade deficit posted a year on year increase of 26.1 percent between January and November to 33.15 billion patacas (US$4.144 billion), officials said in Macau Thursday.
According to the region’s Statistics and Census Bureau, Macau’s exports in the first 11 months of the year fell by 8.2 percent year on year to 6.42 billion patacas whilst imports increased by 18.9 percent, to 39.57 billion patacas.
As a result, the rate of coverage of imports by exports fell 4.8 percentage points to 16.2 percent.
In November, Macau’s exports totalled 565 million patacas, a year on year drop of 10.8 percent and imports totalled 4.06 billion patacas, or 17.9 percent more.
Based on these figures Macau’s balance of trade deficit totaled 3.5 billion patacas in November. (macauhub)
