Chinese company to build cargo terminal in port of Zhuhai, China

Beijing, China, 6 Jan – Chinese company CCCC Fourth Harbour Engineering Co has signed a contract for construction of the cargo terminal at the port of Zhuhai, the China Communications Construction Company Ltd. (CCCC) group said in Beijing.

The company has a budget of 354 million yuan (US$53.6 million) and 573 days to build the biggest cargo terminal at the port of Zhuhai, which will consist of two separate terminals with a unit capacity of 150,000 tons.

The statement published by the group noted that once the terminal had been built it would have an important role in the development of the Zhuhai special economic area, adjacent to Macau.

The port of Zhuhai authorities and Chinese groups Shenhua and Guangdong Yudean also announced a joint investment of 4 billion yuan (US$606 million) in building a transport centre and a coal terminal.

According to newspaper China Business News, the Port of Zhuhai company and the Guangdong Yudean group will have equal stakes of 30 percent and the remaining 40 percent will be in the hands of Shenhua.

The proposed transport centre and coal terminal will have the capacity to process over 40 million tons of cargo per year. (macauhub)
