Geocapital to set up investment bank in Macau

Macau, China, 7 Dec – Financial company Geocapital plans to set up an investment bank in Macau to serve as a platform between Portuguese-speaking countries, said shareholder Jorge Ferro Ribeiro, in an advertorial on Macau published British magazine, the Economist.

Ferro Ribeiro also said that the new bank would secure access for Portuguese-speaking countries to the US$1 billion development fund announced in Macau by the Chinese prime minister, Wen Jiabao, during the third ministerial conference of Forum Macau.

Geocapital is a partnership between Macau gaming magnate Stanley Ho and Portuguese businessman Jorge Ferro Ribeiro, which has focused its business on Portuguese-speaking countries, thus far mainly in the financial sector, such as in Guinea Bissau, Cape Verde and Mozambique. (macauhub)
