TAP – Air Portugal may start flying to Porto Alegre, Brazil

Sao Paulo, Brazil, 10 Jan – Portuguese state airline TAP – Air Portugal is considering opening up a new route to Brazil, directly linking Porto Alegre to Lisbon, the air carrier said in a statement.

The airline’s deputy chairman, Luiz da Gama Mór, is due Monday to be received by the governor of the State of Rio Grande do Sul, Tarso Genro, and to talk with acting mayor of Porto Alegre, Sofia Cavedon.

TAP – Air Portugal flies between nine Brazilian cities and Europe, specifically Belo Horizonte, Brasilia, Campinas, Fortaleza, Natal, Recife, Rio de Janeiro, Salvador and Sao Paulo.

According to website Portugal Digital, the Rio Grande do Sul state authorities have been suggesting that TAP open up a direct flight to Portugal for some time. (macauhub)
