Caxito, Angola, 14 Jan – An agri-industrial unit for processing bananas and tomatoes is under construction in the city of Caxito, in Angola’s Bengo province, the chairman of Caxito, Rega Limitada, Luanda’s electricity distribution company, João Mpilomosi Domingos said Thursday.
The company’s chairman told Angolan news agency Angop that construction of the factory would take nine months and was in the hands of Spanish company Ecatema and once it launches production will have capacity to process two tons of products per hour.
The project, he said, was financed by a credit line from Spain, as part of a contract signed over three years ago with the Agriculture Ministry.
According to the chairman of Caxito Rega, the factory is being built in the agricultural perimeter of Caxito and will have two production lines, one for dehydrating bananas and another for making tomato pulp.
The factory’s staff will include eight technicians from the Luanda Medium Industrial Institute, who will be trained in Spain. (macauhub)
