Ndalatando, Angola, 24 Jan – Reconstruction of the 56-kilometre section of road between teh city of Ndalatando (capital of Kwanza norte province) and teh municipal capital of Golungo-Alto, in Angola is expected to cost US$48 million according to Angolan news agency Angop.

The agency also said that teh project, in teh hands of Portuguese company Vias XXI, has already finished 49 kilometres, of 80 percent of the work, the cost of which has been taken on by the Kwanza Norte provincial government.

According to Joaquim Macedo, who is responsible for the project, the work includes levelling work, construction of drainage ditches, and applying the various layers of the road itself.

Macedo noted that constant rain in the region was the main factor slowing down work, which began in 2008, and also mentioned delays in payment by the provincial government, which led to cutbacks in the number of workers. (macauhub)
