Luanda, Angola, 28 Jan – Diamond production in Angola currently totals 10 million carats per year, the director of the office for International Exchange of the Ministry for Geology and Mining said in Luanda Thursday.
According to Luís António, who was speaking after a visit by a mission from Zimbabwe, the price of diamonds on the international market has been rising so many projects that were at a halt are being re-launched.
António also said that India, China, Israel and the United states were the main buyers of diamonds mined in Angola.
In relation to the visit by Onzias Hove, the secretary general of the Zimbabwean Office of the President and the Council of Ministers, António said that it had served to exchange ideas about the sector, taking into consideration that Zimbabwe had very recently discovered diamonds in its territory.
