Angola expected to see economic growth of 6.9 pct this year

28 January 2011

Lisbon, Portugal, 28 Jan – The Angolan economy is expected to see growth of 6.9 percent this year, supported by the non-oil industries, Portuguese bank BPI said in its latest report on Angola.

In the report, the bank’s analysts said that Angola’s growth would have “few possibilities,” of reaching the 7.5 projection set out by the government on 17 January.

In order to meet that target, Angola would need to “reduce its dependence on imported goods, implement a more disciplined tax policy, have a better exchange rate and cut subsidies on some products.” (macauhub)
