Maputo, Mozambique, 9 Feb – The African Development Bank plans to pay out US$15 million to fund water supply and sanitation projects in the provinces of Nampula and Zambézia, the Mozambican press reported.
The announcement was made last Friday in Maputo during a meeting of the representative of the bank with officials from both provinces. The projects will increase the number of people with access to drinking water.
Only 48 percent of the population of the two provinces (over 3 million people) currently has to drinking water.
According to an official from the National Water Directorate each province will receive US$7.5 million, half of which will be in the form of a loan and the other half a donation. (macauhub)
