Luanda, Angola, 11 Feb – Angola’s Fábrica de Lapidação de Diamantes (Angola Polishing Diamonds), every month polishes raw materials worth an estimated US$20 million, the factory’s managing director, Miguel Bondo Júnior said Thursday in Luanda.
According to Júnior, speaking to Angolan news agency Angop,, the amount of diamonds polished depends on the raw materials supplied by shareholding partner, Sodiam, the diamond sales subsidiary of state-owned diamond company Empresa Nacional de Diamantes de Angola (Endiama).
According to the managing director, the factory, which has an estimated investment of US$10 million, has 300, mainly Angolan, workers with disabilities.
Bondo Júnior, who did not name the main buyers of the diamonds, said that the factory aimed to sell its products outside the country.
The diamond polishing factory is located in Samba municipality, Luanda province. (macauhub)
