Maputo, Mozambique, 17 Feb – The Mozambican National Statistics Institute (INE) expects this month to publish a new Consumer Price Index (CPI) reflecting structural changes in consumption of families and gathering of prices, INE said in a statement.
Noting that the process of preparing the new structure of the CPI had been underway since January, 2010, INE said it was a practice that Mozambique carried out every five years.
For the new CPI, the goods and services that make up the basket are grouped according to the Classification of Individual Consumption According to Purpose.
INE also said that gathering the benchmark prices for the new CPI is being carried out at pre-selected markets and stores in the cities of Maputo, Beira and Nampula and benchmark prices for the base period are from December, 2010. (macauhub)
