Macau, China, 22 Feb – Geocapital and Global Pactum Monday in Macau set up Geopactum Oriente, the first multinational-owned company established as part of Forum Macau, which aims to boost business between China and the Portuguese-speaking countries.
Speaking to Portuguese news agency Lusa, António Carlos Oliveira, chairman of the new company and representative of Global Pactum, an Angolan stake-holding management company that is the biggest shareholder in Banco Privado Atlântico, said that the aim of Geopactum Oriente was to, “drive business between the Portuguese-speaking world and the Far East.”
He also noted that the company’s shareholder structure included Geocapital, owned by businessmen Jorge Ferro Ribeiro and Stanley Ho, “which is well established in this part of the Far East,” and Global Pactum, which provides the component of the Portuguese-speaking world.
Geopactum Oriente is the first company with Macau, Portuguese and Angolan ownership created, “within the spirit of Forum Macau,” of linking and boosting relations between China and the Portuguese-speaking countries, he noted.
For the first year of activity Oliveira gave no set targets to be achieved, but noted that the company, which is headquartered in Macau, is working to establish some projects, namely the agri-industrial and construction sectors. (macauhub)
