22 February 2011

Maputo, Mozambique, 22 Feb – The district of Marrupa, in Mozambique’s Niassa province, was this week linked up to the national power grid, Mozambican state electricity company Electricidade de Moçambique (EdM) said Monday.

Marrupa is the fifth district in the province to be linked to the grid in the last five months, following Sanga district in October, Maua and Mecanhelas in December and Metarica in January.

In these five districts work is underway to electrify 18 localities as part of project expected to cost US$12 million financed by the Swedish government. (macauhub)
