Prices rise in Macau in January

Macau, China, 22 Feb – The inflation rate in Macau totalled 3.21 percent in January, a month in which the Consumer Price Index (CPI) posted a year on year rise of 4.92 percent, the region’s Statistics and Census Bureau (DSEC) said in Macau.

Year on year, the price index in January posted “notable rises” of 9.21 percent in the category of Various Goods and Services, 6.86 percent in Clothing and Footwear, 6.71 percent in Transport, 6.13 percent in Food and Non-alcoholic Drinks and 5.75 percent in Health.

As compared with December 2010, CPI in January rose 0.93 percent, due to rises in the categories of Various Goods and Services (2.83 percent), Food and Non-alcoholic Drinks (1.93 percent) and Transport (1.04 percent). (macauhub)
