Taiwan’s Foxconn may manufacture Apple products in Brazil

Sao Paulo, Brazil, 22 March – Taiwanese company Foxconn is studying the construction, potentially in Brazil, of a third assembly line for electronic products of US company Apple, the Brazilian press reported.

The information published by the secretary for Economic Development of Jundiaí, Ari Castro Nunes Filho, during the ceremony to transfer the Brazilian unit of multinational Japanese company Horiba from Sao Paulo to Jundiaí.

Filho, when asked about the possible new investments in the city, said that Foxconn had already ordered studies for setting up a factory in the city to assemble Apple products such as the iPhone, iPad and iPod.

The city of Jundiaí, near Campinas – both in the interior of the State of Sao Paulo – over the last few years has become a benchmark in the technology sector and the region already has large factories of multinational companies such as Sony and HP. (macauhub)
