Maputo, Mozambique, 24 March – The Mozambican government, via Maputo Sul EP, expects to secure a financing package of US$500 million by October to fund construction of the bridge inking Maputo to Catembe, in the Municipal District of Ka Tembe, as well as the roads linking the area to Ponta d’Ouro and Bela-Vista/Boane.
According to Mozambican newspaper Notícias “interest has been shown (in this project) by national, Chinese, Spanish and Portuguese investors.”
The immediate implications of the project, as described in Maputo at a seminar on Development and Regional Impact Planning, are the renewal of the project area on the Maputo and on the Catembe side.
The chief executive of the project, Nelson Nunes, said that some 20 kilometres of roads would be built near the future bridge. (macauhub
