Praia, Cape Verde, 24 March – Airline TAP-Air Portugal can now offer direct flights to the island of Sao Vicente in Cape Verde after receiving official authorisation from Cape Verdean Civil Aeronautical agency (AAC), the airline’s representative in Cape Verde said.
Luís Garcia said that the inaugural flight was scheduled for the start of July and would be operated by an Airbus 320 aircraft. He also announced that there would be two flights per week, on Tuesdays and Fridays.
“Flying to the airport of Sao Pedro, on Sao Vicente, was on the list of TAP’s new destinations for Africa. We had to negotiate the refuelling of the aircraft with the two oil companies and we made a deal with Shell, which already has facilities at the airport,” Garcia said.
Garcia noted that TAP already offers flights to Sal and Santiago islands, but there was a problem for passengers travelling on to Sao Vicente as they had to spend the night on those islands before continuing their journeys. (macauhub)
