Luanda, Angola, 31 March – New hydroelectric facilities will be built along the Kwanza River, in Angola’s Malanje province, as part of a project of the country’s Ministry for Energy and Water, said Angola’s Energy Secretary, João Baptista Borges, cited by television station Televisão Popular de Angola.
Baptista Borges, who was presenting the strategic plan of his secretariat, said that seven projects were scheduled for construction in the mid-Kwanza region.
“Construction of the facilities of Lauca and Caculo-Cabaça, the two biggest hydroelectric facilities with a joint capacity of 4,100 megawatts, will begin soon,” the energy secretary said.
Baptista Borges said it was necessary to carry out an increasing amount of investment for the electricity supply to exceed demand that has resulted from new industrial units and housing. (macauhub)
