Maputo, Mozambique, 11 April – The Mozambican economy posted growth of around 6.5 percent in 2010, according to the International monetary fund (IMF) representative in Mozambique, Victor Duarte Lledó.
Mozambican newspaper Notícias reported that the IMF official said that, “Mozambique’s economic growth in the future is expected to accelerate and return to the levels seen before the global financial crisis.”
According to the IMF Mozambique’s economic growth in 2010 was one of the highest in the region.
The IMF also projects growth for 2011 of around 7.2 percent, which is in line with the government’s projections.
In terms of inflation, Lledó said that through its measures the government was aiming to reduce inflation to one digit by the end of the year. (macauhub)
