13 April 2011

Beijing, China, 13 April – Chinese multinational company Foxconn, which manufactures Apple products in China, said Tuesday in Beijing that it planned to assemble iPads in Brazil starting in November, at one of its five Brazilian factories.

Apple studies show that there is demand for at least 5,000 iPads per month in the Brazilian market.

Foxconn also announced an investment of US$12 billion in Brazil in a new factory that will be concluded within five years.

The new factory will produce screens for products such as computers, mobile phones and tablets, at what will be the third-largest investment ever made by a foreign company in Brazil.

The new investment will mean employment for 100,000 people, of which 20,000 will be engineers.

Foxconn currently employs 5,700 people in Brazil. (macauhub)
