Angolan mining companies to receive government support

26 April 2011

Luanda, Angola, 26 April – The Angolan Ministry of Geology, Mining and Industry plans to focus more of its attention on companies in the sector in order to make them more competitive, the secretary of state for Industry, Kiala Gabriel said Monday in Luanda.

Speaking to Angolan news agency Angop, Gabriel said that the support would consist of technical and professional training and more integration of Angolan staff in mining projects and countries operating in the country, with a view to Angola taking up its real position in world mining.

According to the secretary of state, the ministry recognises the need to adopt a competitive mining policy in order to create more jobs and improve the living conditions of the population, particularly those people living in mining areas.
