Angola launches international tender for execution of geological chart

28 April 2011

Luanda, Angola, 28 April – Angola’s Minister for Geology and Mining, Joaquim David said in Luanda that an international public tender had been launched for the execution of the country’s geological chart, which would make it possible to discover Angola’s true mining potential as well as the location of the most promising mining reserves.

Once it has the Angolan geological chart the Geology and Mining Ministry will be able to plan the diversification of mining in the country beyond diamonds and to draw up a schedule for this process, by prioritising particular mining projects.

The minister also noted that the Cassinga project would be re-launched, but added that the first export would only be carried out in three or four years’ time and that it was therefore, “too early to calculate results for next year.” (macauhub)
