Millennium Challenge Account launches tender for water supply to city of Nampula

Maputo, Mozambique, 5 May – The Millennium Challenge Account in Mozambique (MCA-Mozambique) has launched a public tender for the repair and expansion of the water supply system in the city of Nampula, a source from the MCA told Macauhub.

The MCA source said that the work now up for tender would include collection, the treatment plant, main duct and reservoir, “in order to achieve a capacity of approximately 20,000 cubic metres per day.”

Officials from MCA – Mozambique are due to travel to the work site at the end of the month, in the same week in which the pre-bid conference will be carried out.

The Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC), which represents the United States federal government and the Ministry for Planning and Development, representing the Mozambican government, signed an agreement to support projects to reduce poverty in four provinces in northern Mozambique: Cabo Delgado, Niassa, Nampula and Zambézia.

In total MCA-Mozambique is due to apply some US$500 million to its projects. (macauhub)
