Dundo, Angola, 11 May – The Cacanda agri-livestock project, in Angola’s Lunda Norte province, is expected to create 10,000 jobs, following the conclusion of refurbishment work later this year, said Angola’s Minister for Agriculture, Rural Development and Fishing.

The project, which covers an area of 10,000 hectares and in which US$29 million will be invested, will have six chicken coops, an egg selection and preservation room, a hatchery, an animal feed factory, an industrial slaughter house, a training centre, a clinic, a cafeteria and housing for technical staff.

Speaking to Angolan news agency Angop, minister Pedro Canga, who visited the project, said he was satisfied with the progress of the refurbishment work that had been awarded to Israeli company LR Group.

The minister also said that as well as the Cacanda project, the government planned to expand the province’s agricultural network, whilst also increasing construction and refurbishment of similar facilities in Lunda Norte. (macauhub)
