Maputo, Mozambique, 9 June – Mozambique’s gross domestic product (GDP) posted growth of 8.4 percent in the first quarter of this year compared to the same period of 2010, the Mozambican National Statistics Institute (INE) said Wednesday in Maputo.
The performance of Mozambican GDP from January to March was driven by growth of the tertiary sector, of 10.7 percent, specifically the sub-sectors of restaurants (18.1 percent) and transport and communications (17.5 percent), according to a statement from INE on “Preliminary National Accounts.”
The primary sector posted growth of 8.9 percent and agri-livestock and silviculture rose 9.3 percent and fishing 1.3 percent. The secondary sector posted overall growth of 1.3 percent. (macauhub)
