Maputo International Fair moves to Marracuene

Maputo, Mozambique, 4 July – This year’s Maputo International Fair (Facim) will be held in Ricatla, Marracuene, Maputo province, thus leaving downtown Maputo, where the fair was held for 46 years, for good.

The fair will be held from 29 August to 3 September and the event’s organisers have started taking bookings for spaces in the fair from Mozambican and foreign companies.

According to the Mozambican press at least 200 Mozambicans and 30 foreign companies from Portugal, Spain, Italy, South Africa, Brazil, Macau, Tanzania, Malawi, Kenya, Botswana and Swaziland have already booked their place at the Mozambican business and trade exhibition.

Last year’s fair, held from 30 to 5 September 2010, had 14 countries taking part, six more, and 31 foreign companies, 11 more, against the previous year and 489 Mozambican exhibitors, or 123 more than in 2009.

Portugal took up the largest area, covering 854 square metres, followed by South Africa, with 457 square metres, and Italy, with 360 square metres. (macauhub)
