Maputo International Fair 2011 has 10 international participants confirmed

6 July 2011

Maputo, Mozambique, 6 July – Ten countries have confirmed their participation in the 47th edition of the Maputo International Fair (Facim), which this year will take place in Marracuene district in Mozambique’s Maputo province, the events organisers said Tuesday in Maputo.

João Macaringue, chairman of Mozambique’s Export Promotion Institute (Ipex) said that the countries were Portugal, Spain, Brazil, Poland, South Africa, Botswana, Tanzania, Denmark, Malawi and Italy, and that Argentina was also negotiating to take part.

Cited by Mozambican daily newspaper Notícias, Macaringue gave assurances that everything was being done for the exhibition to take place on schedule, from 29 August to 4 September.

In order for this to happen pavilions are currently being set up and a two-kilometre access road is being built, as well as a car park for 650 vehicles, systems to supply water and electricity, and a warehouse.

Initial investment was expected to be US$4.5 million, but Macaringue said that this could be exceeded because, as time went by, it was found that a number of facilities needed to be built and these altered the initial budget.

The chairman of IPEX said he was optimistic about the number of exhibitors being bigger than last year, which involved 13 countries and a total of 550 companies. (macauhub)
