Five new mining concessions to be granted this year in Mozambique

Maputo, Mozambique, 7 July – The Mozambican minister of Natural Resources, Esperança Bias, said Wednesday in Maputo that mining contracts for new concessions to be granted were currently under negotiation, some of which in Revubué and another in the Tete/Moatize region.

Bias, who was speaking to representatives of over 100 mining sector companies taking part in the 2nd International Conference on Coal Exploration held Tuesday and Wednesday in the Mozambican capital.

According to the minister, by the end of this year, a further five coal mining concession could be granted.

At least two other holders of prospecting and surveying licenses, one of which in Ncondezi and the other in Cahora Bassa, are soon expected to request mining concessions.

“We continue to receive numerous requests for areas for coal prospecting and surveying, specifically from investors from India and China,” said Bias. (macauhub)
