Futungo de Belas in Luanda, Angola has urban renewal project expected to cost US$150 million

Luanda, Angola, 12 July – The first phase of the urban renewal project of the Futungo de Belas area in Luanda, will include repairs to and construction of urban facilities, specifically water and electricity supply systems, roads and sewage network, officials said in Luanda Monday.

The director of the Futungo de Belas and Mussulo Tourism Development Hub Management Office, Rodrigo de Sousa Alves Santos, speaking on the sidelines of the laying of the project’s first stone, said that this first phase, which will cost US$150 million, also includes construction of a waste water treatment centre to reduce the negative effect on the coast surrounding the area.

The project covers an area of 537 hectares, starts at Corimba plaza and stretches as far as Benfica bridge and will be home to, as well as housing and tourism areas, the Museum of the Republic, which will include the residence and office of the first President of Angola.

The urban renewal project includes lots for family homes and for construction of retail and services buildings, as well as leisure areas, parking spaces and green areas. (macauhub)
