Maputo, Mozambique, 1 Aug – Envest Limpopo, an agriculture company with South African capital dedicated to the production of “reno” potatoes, tomato and maize, has been created at Matuba, about 4 km from the Chokwe district seat in Mozambique’s Gaza province.

The company has invested US$8 million to date and will produce agricultural products in an area of 1,000 hectares, employing 273 workers.

The use of new technologies in the production process will enable about 80 tonnes of tomatoes to be harvested per hectare, as well as 40 of potatoes and seven of maize in a similar area.

The area currently produces only 5,000 tonnes of tomato, 800 of “reno” potatos and 500 of maize.

Company general director Peter di Klerk told the newspaper Notícias that product placement markets are assured in both Mozambique and South Africa. (macauhub)
