Angolan insurance sector to grow and diversify in coming years

Luanda, Angola, 8 Aug – Angola’s insurance sector presents positive growth and market diversification trends for the coming years, the head of the Empresa Nacional de Seguros de Angola (ENSA) said on Friday.

Cited by Angolan news agency Angop, Manuel Gonçalves said that seven insurance companies currently existed in Angola, five to begin operations. There were also from 15 to 17 brokers and more than 200 mediators.

During a conference on Insurance and Dynamics of the Economy held on the occasion of the day dedicated to insurance and pension funds in Angola, the ENSA president said regarding global insurance market trends that growth should be 3 percent in the developed economies and 7 percent in the emerging economies.

“Expectations in 2012 are for an upturn in the global economy,” he said.

In Angola civil responsibility insurance is compulsory for aviation, automobiles, aeronautic infrastructures and services, work accidents and professional illnesses, and against fire in buildings on a horizontal property basis. (macauhub)
