Companies from Angola’s Huila province exported more than 4,000 cubic metres of black granite in the 2nd quarter

Lubango, Angola, 8 Aug – More than 5,000 cubic metres of black granite were extracted in Huila province in the second quarter of this year by ornamental stone companies, the provincial director of Geology and Mines and Industry has stated.

Paula Baptista Joaquim told Angolan news agency Angop on Friday in Lubango that production should be about 1,200 cubic metres more than in the second quarter of 2010.

The companies involved are Rodang, which produced 1,440 cubic metres, Metarrochas, with 436 m³, Agostone with a production of 1,802 m³ and Galiangol with 450 m³, DGF with 802 m³, Marsec with 267 m³ and Angola Stone with 175 m³, the same as Estrom and Maril, she specified.

The companies exported 4,312 cubic metres of granite to Italy, China and Spain during the period, Paula Joaquim said.

During the second quarter, Huila province’s Directorate of Geology and Mines and Industry licensed three more companies aiming to exploit ornamental stone, thus making a total of 28. (macauhub)
