Brazil’s Embraer to build executive jets in China

12 August 2011

Sao Paulo, Brazil, 12 Oct – Brazilian aircraft manufacturer, Embraer, said Thursday it was coming to the end of preparations to transform its factory in China for the production of executive jet aircraft.

“We are close to closing a deal with Chinese group Avic International Leasing”, said the vice president of Embraer, Marco Tulio Pellegrini, speaking in Sao Paulo.

Embraer has a factory in the Chinese city of Harbin where it builds its 50-seater ERJ-145 aircraft, and will now convert the unit to build the Legacy 650, with 14 seats.

Pellegrini said that China has demand for executive jets worth 14 billion euros until 2020, as compared to a 5 billion-euro market in Brazil.

The vice president of Embraer said that the group expected a response from the Chinese government by the end of the year to authorise construction of 120-seater aircraft at the Harbin factory. (macauhub)
