Luanda, Angola, 17 Aug – Esso Angola plans to produce an additional 100,000 barrels of oil per day (bpd) at Block 15, which currently produces over 500,000bpd, by putting 18 new oil fields into operation in the second quarter of 2012, Angolan newspaper Jornal de Angola reported.
The newspaper, which cited a report from the company, said that the project had started with construction of the “Satélites do Kizomba” project.
This programme initially outlines development of the “Clochas” and “Mavacola” oil fields via an undersea link and modification to the deck modules of the floating production, storage and offloading vessels (FPSO) “Kizomba A” and “Kizomba B”.
According to the company the projects is “extremely complex” and once it is concluded in 2012 will make it possible for the “Kizomba A” and “Kizomba B” FPSOs to have an additional 2,000 tons of equipment and around 18 new wells.
Block 15 is a concession of Sonangol EP, in which Esso Exploration Angola Limited has a 40 percent stake and in which BP Exploration Angola Limited (26.67 percent), ENI Angola Exploration BV (20 percent) and Statoil Angola AS (13.33 percent) are also involved.
In the last half production was de-activated at the first oil facility operated by Esso Angola in Block 15. (macauhub)
