Caala, Angola, 24 Aug – The Banco de Desenvolvimento de Angola (BDA) plans to invest US$2.5 million this year to promote agricultural activity at the Vale do Calai cooperative in Calema, Caala municipality in central Angola’s Huambo province, reports the Angop news agency.
The cooperative’s commercial director, Inacio Tchinjamba, said the funds provided by the BDA would be used to acquire vehicles as well as tractors for hauling cattle and goats.
The Vale do Calai cooperative is located in Calenga commune in Caala municipality, 36 km west of Huambo city. It counts 102 members and 17 farmworker associations and mainly produces potatoes, carrots, cabbage and maize.
The cooperative’s products are commercialised in the provinces of Benguela, Luanda, Lunda Norte and Huambo, Tchinjamba said. (macauhub)
