25 August 2011

Luanda, Angola, 25 Aug – The Angolan Ministry of Transports aims to have three international airports functioning by 2012, the ministry’s infrastructure director told Angolan National Radio.

Improvement work at the current Luanda Airport is nearing completion and work to upgrade the Catumbela and Bengo airports should finish next year, Carla Marques said.

Luanda’s new international airport, located in Bom-Jesus 40 km from the capital, should become operational in 2014, she added.

That airport occupies an area of 10,000 hectares and is being built by a consortium of Chinese companies and Brazil’s Odebrecht. (macauhub)
