Chinese company to build 5,000 social houses in Angola

Luanda, Angola, 31 Aug – Five thousand new houses are due to be built in two years in a new neighbourhood of the city of Kilamba, in Angola, via a partnership between the government and China International Fund Limited (CIF), the Minister for Urbanism and Construction, Fernando Fonseca said in Luanda.

The minister was speaking after the laying of the first stone to build the houses by President José Eduardo dos Santos.

The project, which is located three kilometres south of the centre of Kilamba and where there are already 3,000 houses, is part of the Master Plan for the City of Kilamba and will be carried out in an area of 250 hectares.

Of the total, 1,500 houses will be terraced and have 3 bedrooms. Of the remaining homes, 1.500 will be built in two-storey buildings and the remaining 2,000 units will be in four-storey buildings.

The project will make use of the entire infrastructure available in the city fo Kilamba, as it is an integral part of the city centre.

The Kilamba social housing project outlines that of the 250 hectares, 136.7 shall be used for social housing, 65 for infrastructures, 8.3 for social facilities, 10.5 for retail and services and 4.5 for green areas. (macauhub)
