Maputo, Mozambique, 8 Sept – Mozambique’s Tributary Authority (AT) took in revenues of 53 billion meticals (US$1.963 billion) between January and August, said the chairman of the institution, Rosário Fernandes.
Cited by Mozambican newspaper, O País, the chairman of the AT said that the revenues collected in the period exceeded projections in the rectified General State budget for 2011.
Tax revenues collected in the period from January to August exceeded those collected in 2010 by 84 percent and those collected in 2009 by 112 percent, Rosário Fernandes said.
The chairman of the AT also said that the performance of the tributary sector was expected to improve further over the next few months, by getting closer to taxpayers through the establishment of collection posts in several locations. (macauhub)
