Bangkok, Thailand, 12 Sept – The Mozambican minister for Mining Resources, Esperança Bias, is due Monday in Bangkok, Thailand, to take part in a business meeting entitled, Eyes on Africa, according to Mozambican state daily newspaper, Notícias.
The forum aims to boost the interest of Thai businesspeople in African countries, particularly in the gemstone industry.
The event is important for Mozambique due to the growth of mining in the country and the need for the sector to attract interest in the area of processing mining products.
Over 150 potential investors in a variety of business areas, specifically construction materials, food products and miscellaneous equipment, amongst others, are due to take part in the one-day meeting organised by the Thai Department for Export Promotion.
Before Thailand, from 6 to 10 September, the minister visited the operation of the Eurasian Natural Resources Corporation (ENRC), in Kazakhstan due to the company’s investments in the Mozambican mining sector.
ENRC is currently prospecting and surveying for coal in the districts of Cahora Bassa, Marávia, Changara and Mágoe, in Tete province, and is setting ups its initial operations. (macauhub)
